Scripture: John 13:1-17
Devotional Thought: "He loved them to the end" (John 13:1).
Jesus will soon suffer abuse and crucifixtion. Even sooner, he will experience the betrayal of a follower. Even so, John's gospel tell us that, "He loved them. to the end" (John 13:1). In those nerve-wracking final hours on earth, Jesus doesn't tell his friends to give him space. He doesn't tell Judas, the betrayer, to just get out of the upper room already. Instead, he interrupts his own supper to wash their dirty feet.
Jesus has the same love for you. And through him, you can love others like this, too. Even when you feel overwhelmed with the task before you. Even when you feel betrayed.
