The objectives of WMU are:• Pray for Missions
• Engage in mission action and witnessing
• Learn about missions
• Support missions
• Develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle
• Participate in the work of the church and the denomination
Currently FBC Helotes has an active Women on Mission group and a Kids in Action/Mission Friends group.
The Women on Mission meet quarterly and other times throughout the year, typically on a Saturday morning. We also host a Ladies’ Bible Study in the spring and fall months. Meeting dates and times can be found in the monthly church newsletters and in the weekly Sunday bulletins.
The Joy class prays for each other and enjoys studying the Holy Bible together. Excitedly, we look for God's wonderful promises to people who love and obey Him. Also we must be alerted to God's warnings for disobedience. The ladies in the Joy class have chosen the LORD's provision for salvation and eternal life with The Lord Our Righteousness.
Past events have included:
Prayer - Walking the church grounds
A World Crafts Party benefitting foreign people groups by buying unique hand-made items
An English Tea for the Christian Women’s Job Corp and collecting business clothing for their participants
Hosting a Passover Seder for the Beth Simcha Congregation, a Messianic Jewish church in San Antonio
A Children’s Day ministry to a local nursing home where the Children’s Choir performed and handed out Valentine cookies to the residents
Operation Warm Hearts in which warm winter clothing was collected for the SABA Homeless Ministry
The WMU also oversees the four special missions emphases and offerings of the Southern Baptist Convention: Annie Armstrong (Easter –North American Missions), Lone Star Church Planting (local church starts), Mary Hill Davis (State Missions), and Lottie Moon (Christmas- International Missions)
